Advertising Measurement Data: Counts of advert views and clicks on our own site, the page they happened on and, only with your consent, a temporary session identifier (see "Advertising on Our Site").

10. Advertising on Our Site
Local venues and partners can pay to advertise on our site. Paid content is always clearly labelled. So that we can bill advertisers fairly and show them how their campaign performed, we count how many times each advert is viewed and clicked. Here is exactly how that works. If you allow "marketing" in our cookie banner, we store a random identifier called dwf_ad_session in your browser's session storage. Session storage is not a cookie: the identifier disappears as soon as you close the browser tab, and it is never used to follow you across other websites. We send it to our own server together with the view or click so that we can count unique browsing sessions without double-counting; we share it with no one. It is only ever created after you have given marketing consent, and if you withdraw that consent we delete it from your browser immediately. If you do not give consent, you will see exactly the same adverts — refusing changes nothing about your visit. We still count the view or click, but anonymously: no identifier is stored on or read from your device, and the count is not linked to you or to any account, even if you are signed in. Advertisers never receive information about you. They see only aggregate figures for their own campaigns: how many times their advert was viewed and clicked, and how many browsing sessions those views came from. Counts recorded without consent are reported to them separately, as anonymous totals. We keep the raw view and click records for a limited period — currently 90 days — after which they are deleted, leaving only daily totals that identify nobody.
11. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies such as browser storage. You choose what we may use through the cookie banner shown on your first visit, and you can change your mind at any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer of every page, or through your browser settings. We use: Essential: Required for the site to work — signing in, your basket, and remembering the consent choices you have made. Analytics: With your consent, help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. Marketing: With your consent, allow the advertising measurement described in "Advertising on Our Site" to be linked to your browsing session. Adverts display either way, and we do not use cookies to target or personalise them.
